WHAT IS PINYIN?

Pinyin is the official romanization of Chinese pronunciation for Mandarin Chinese. It's a way of using Latin alphabet to spell and indicate the pronunciation of every Chinese character. This system is widely-used in China, Malaysia, Singapore, and lastly, Taiwan. Pinyin is not too popular in Taiwan yet because many people in Taiwan grew up using another phonetic alphabet system called, ZhuYin FuHao (sounds like "Joo Ying Foo How"). If you are having trouble helping your child reviewing each week's vocabulary, please check out the videos listed below for some quick lessons on the Chinese Pinyin Alphabet system. I do not own any of the lessons listed on this page but I'd like to share them with the parents since they're quite short and helpful. Happy learning!
